New England Patriots trademark 'unequivocally the sweetest'

2017-05-04

Robert Kraft's words following his New England Patriots' epic  Super Bowl LI victory are now in the process of being trademarked.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, the Patriots filed to trademark the phrase "Unequivocally The Sweetest" on April 17 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Rovell points out that in the filing the Patriots say the intended use of the phrase is for "pre-recorded DVDs featuring sports."

Following New England's 25 point rally to beat the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI giving the franchise it's fifth championship, Kraft first said those words when being handed over the Vince Lombardi trophy.

"I want to say to our fans, our brilliant coaching staff, our amazing players who are so spectacular, this is unequivocally the sweetest," Kraft said after Super Bowl LI.

Those comments did cause a bit of a stir too as it was reported the league office was upset at the use of the word "sweetest."

The underlying message of Kraft's words that night seem to trace back to Deflategate and how the Patriots were able to still win the Super Bowl despite the league suspending Tom Bradyand attacking the organization.

New England has been pretty busy lately filing trademarks as they've filed for Belichick's "No Days Off" and "Ignore The Noise" mantras as well as filing for "OneMore" and "Blitz For Six" this offseason.

Others that the Pats already have in their back pocket include "Do Your Job," "The Patriot Way" and "We Are All Patriots."
