ZTE leaps to top with 974 PCT applications in Q1

According to the latest statistics released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on May 25, ZTE has filed 974 PCT applications in the first quarter this year, leading the PCT users over the world.

According to ZTE Annual Report, US and European markets are of the greatest importance for the company’s overseas expansion, representing 21% of its total global operating revenue, up 50%. ZTE has filed cumulatively a total of 35,000 international patent applications all over the word; over 90% of its patents are invention patents including basic patents covering international technical standards for communications as well as core patents covering the key technologies of the communications industry. ZTE became No.2 in 2010 with 1,863 PCT applications. (by Zhao Jianguo)
