Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan, May 25, met with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in Beijing and stressed China would endeavor to build a long-term mechanism on IPR protection and create a better environment for foreign investors.
When meeting with Ballmer, Wang applauded Microsoft for setting up its biggest research base outside the United States in Beijing. Microsoft has participated in and contributed to China's modernization construction while also benefiting along the way. Chinese government attaches high importance to IPR protection and the campaign against IPR infringement and counterfeiting and piracy launched last October has seen notable results, he stressed.
Ballmer spoke highly of the achievements the Chinese government has made in IPR protection, and vowed to further enhance cooperation with the Chinese side. As the biggest research base outside the United States, Microsoft Asia and Pacific R&D Center was set up in Zhongguancun science park on May 25. (Xinhua)
