LG Loses LED Patent Case in U.S.

LG has lost a case in the U.S. over LED lamps against German company Osram, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
The U.S. International Trade Commission in a preliminary decision said LED lamps manufactured by LG Electronics and LG Innotek infringed one Osram patent relating to a chip that converts a blue light to white.

If the ITC's final decision is the same it will lead to a U.S. ban on imports of LG's LED lamps.
Osram has filed 10 lawsuits against LG and Samsung Display in Korea, China, Germany, Japan and the U.S. LG and Samsung are counter-suing. The Korea Trade Commission recently found neither LG nor Osram guilty of infringing each others' patents.
