Talk of the Day -- Apple reduces dependence on Samsung

Apple Inc. is reducing its dependence on South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. amid a tense battle for smartphone and tablet sales and never-ending patent wars between the two, according to a report from South Korea.

The Korea Times cited a senior Samsung official as saying that Apple has made its message loud and clear: It will no longer use its rival's technology and will not use Samsung as its primary chip provider.
