SIPO receives 9.6% patent filling in first half

According to the latest SIPO statistics, the Chinese patent authority received a total of 467,000 applications in the first half of this year, up 9.6%; 411,000 or 88% of which are from home, 56,000 or 12% of which were from abroad. In terms of types of patents, there are 164,000 for applications, invention 165,000 for utility models and 138,000 for designs.

Among the domestic patent applications, 239,000 service applications contributes 58.2%, up 17.7% and 171,700 non-service ones account for 41.8%, down 0.2%. There are 115,000 domestic inventions applications (70.1%), up10.6% and 49,000 (29.9%) ones from abroad, up 11.4%.
As of the end of June 2010, SIPO had received cumulative 6.285 million patent applications and granted 3.442 million patents.   (By Xiao Xiao/ Wang Xiaohu)
