China attracts world’s attention in high-speed railway IPRs

China has developed a self-generated IPR-laden high-speed railway system. As of now, there has been no IPR dispute with foreign companies in this area. As of the end of 2009, China had filed 946 patent applications, a Minstry of Railways’ press conference said on July 28.
At present, China has put into service of 6,920 km railway. Another 10,000+ km railway is under construction. The top speed of the operational railway has reached 350 kilometers per hour while to-be Beijing-Shanghai route would register at 380 kilometers.
The International Union of Railways will join hands with the Ministry of Railways to hold the Seventh World’s High-Speed Railways Conference from December 7 to 9 this year, which would become the first time for the event to be held outside the EU.(By Liu Ren)
