Cross-straits agreement on IPR protection effective

The Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) between China mainland and Taiwan, together with a cross-straits agreement on the protection of intellectual property rights took effect on September 12, the day following an exchange of documents by Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits and Straits Exchange Foundation.


A press release by Straits Exchange Foundation said that in a letter to Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits on September 11, the Taiwan side has completed relevant procedures making sure that the two agreements entering into force. Relations Across the Taiwan Straits replied in a letter that the mainland was also ready. After the exchange of documents, the two sides agreed the agreements taking affect since September 12.
