IP protection safeguards Expo

Palpable achievements have been made in IP protection for the Shanghai Expo as it nears the end. Prosecutors presses charge against 16 suspects involving in nine IP cases on infringement of Expo-related IPRs, some of which are about to be on trial in the near future.


From January to June this year, the national administrations for industry and commerce, in accordance with the Regulation on the Protection of World Expo Logo Marks, seized 273 infringement cases with a total value of 2.43 million yuan, imposed 1.97 million yuan in fines, smashed 18,224 infringing goods and destructed 18,825 infringing logos. As of the first half of this year, China had cumulatively handled 273 cases on Expo infringement.


In the sprint stage of Shnaghai Expo, the Trademark Office under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce will continue to guide, coordinate, summarize and popularize works on Shanghai Expo logos protection, further intensify law enforcement and take effective enforcement actions.
