Talk of the Day -- Hon Hai, TSMC among top 50 U.S. patent holders

    Two Taiwanese companies -- Hon Hai Group and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) -- ranked among the top 50 recipients of U.S. patents in 2012, according to data released by IFI CLAIMS Patent Services.
    Hon Hai, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, was ranked eighth largest U.S. patent assignee in 2012, while TSMC, the world's top dedicated semiconductor foundry, was placed 48th on the top 50 list.
    IFI CLAIMS Patent Services is a research firm that specializes in maintaining patent data and offering related services.
    Meanwhile, Eslite Spectrum Corp., a subsidiary of the famed Eslite Group, will have its stock traded on the local over-the-counter (OTC) market starting Jan. 30.
